Chicken pox
December 1st, 2009 by Col

I have chicken pox. Because of my autologous stem cell transplant in 2007, all of the immunity I ever had disappeared. Some of it was restored through immunisation, but apparently the chicken pox vaccine is unsuitable for people like me (I don’t know why).

Anyway. About 2 weeks ago I was exposed to chicken pox, and I fairly much assumed then I would get it, and I have.

Yee-ha.

I had it when I was around 30, and I was sick for 2 weeks – in fact, I was very sick. Chicken pox in adults is more severe than in children, and adults represent the highest number of deaths from chicken pox (yes, people do die from it). So I’m not looking forward to it again.

Bummer.
